Topic: Canine Hyperadrenocorticism
Learning objectives:
a. To understand the underlying pathogenesis of hyperadrenocorticism
b. To understand the various diagnostic tests used to confirm a diagnosis of hyperadrenocorticism.
c. To become familiar with the use of Vetoryl in the management of hyperadrenocorticism
SPEAKER BIO: David Bruyette, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), FNAP
Dr. Bruyette received his DVM from the University of Missouri in 1984 and completed an internship at Purdue University and residency in internal medicine at the University of California-Davis. He was a staff internist at the West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group and a member of the Department of Comparative Medicine at Stanford University before leaving to become an Assistant Professor and Head of Internal Medicine at Kansas State University and Director of the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory. Dr Bruyette then moved back to California and was medical director at the VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital from Sept 1996 to Jan 2017 and a Clinical professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA.
In 2017 he came Chief Medical Officer at Anivive Lifesciences where he leads drug discovery and oversees the development of therapies and preventatives to meet important unmet needs for both people and pets. He is currently Medical Director at Pacific Coast Veterinary Specialists and leads to radioiodine program for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats.
Dr Bruyette’s clinical and research interests are in the areas of oncology and endocrine disease. He has authored numerous publications and book chapters and is the editor of the veterinary textbook “Clinical Small Animal Internal Medicine”.
Dr Bruyette is a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academy of Practice.
